Tinkercad Instructions
This section is split into three parts. Part A (Below) has instructions for teachers to set up their Free Tinkercad Educators account. Part B, will be instructions for how your students access your account. Part C, will show you what to do once your students have created files to print in Tinkercad. Tinkercad can be used to create 3D designs to print or you can browse their gallery of free .stl files to modify for download to print. If you have any questions about Tinkercad, please contact your Digital Integration Specialist.
Part A: Teacher Instructions
1. Go to tinkercad.com and click on the Sign Up button to sign up for your free educator account.
2. Click the "Educators start here" button. Follow the instructions to create your account.
3. This is your Dashboard in Tinkercad. Highlighted is the "Tutorials" button for tutorials on how to use Tinkercad. To create a class, you will click the "Create New Class" button.
4. Give your class and name and then click "Create Class."
5. Once you have created your class, to add students to the class, click on the class name.
6. Click "Add Students."
7. You will add students by student seats. This creates a seat in your Tinkercad class for each of your students WITHOUT creating them an account. This means that Tinkercad will not be collecting any information from the student and therefore will not need a parent permission form. You will type in the student's first name, then a nickname (it will preload the name as the nickname for you - recommended you keep those two fields the same), then click save changes. You will do this for each student in your class.
8. When you are helping your students sign in, the class code is located where it says Class link. The 9 character code will be what the students type in on their end.
Part B: Student Log In/Getting Started
1. Students will go to tinkercad.com and click "Log In." They will then click "Students with Class Code."
2. Students will type in the 9 digit code that you saved from your class information.
3. They will then click "Join with Nickname." They will then type in the Nickname that you created for them when you added them to the class.
4. This is their student dashboard. Here there are tutorials for them to watch on how to get started in Tinkercad. They are also able to start a new design in Tinkercad through their dashboard.
Part C: After Students have created - Teacher side
1. On your Teacher Dashboard, click on your class.
2. Click "Designs."
3. Click on the student design you wish to access.
4. Here you can either click A) "Tinker this" if you need to edit their design any or B) "Download" to download the file for printing.
5. When downloading the file, you will need to download it as a .STL file. This will format it properly for printing in the RoboCloud Space.
6. Follow the instructions for Uploading Your TinkerCad Designs and Printing with Robo Cloud to print your TinkerCad designs by clicking the buttons below.
