Portfolio Extravaganza & Community Project
Portfolio Extravaganza
Students will be presenting their hard work at the annual SRMS Portfolio Extravaganza Night. The student portfolios showcase the students’ best work, aligning with the IB MYP Program Philosophy. The presentations will include the following:
6th Grade = The Learner Profile and Me
Students will be gathering work samples that show evidence of the IB-MYP Learner Profile attributes (Thinker, Open-minded, Principled, Balanced, Risk-taker, Reflective, Inquirer, Communicator, Caring, Knowledgeable). Students may use samples from any class they have taken this year, and should plan on keeping work samples that show growth and progression in at least 4 Learner Profile attributes.
7th Grade = International Hall of Fame
Students will be taking on the role of a biographer to research a person from history who they believe should be included in the International Hall of Fame. Students may work individually or with one partner. Using the Statement of Inquiry, “Individuals create cause and effect situations which can lead to turning points in communities and history”, students will create an argumentative presentation to persuade/convince an international committee to include their selected person.
8th Grade = IB Community Project
The community project encourages students to explore their right and responsibility to implement service in the community. Students may complete the community project individually or in small groups. The community project is required by the IB.
