IB Criterion Rubrics and Grades
Criterion rubrics are scaled on four achievement level bands (1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8), reporting on a scale of 0-8 points for each criterion assessed in the summative task. Since the School District of Indian River County’s reporting system requires the use of letter grades, the following scale will be utilized at SRMS to convert the Achievement Levels into letter grades:
- Year 1 Objectives and Assessment Criterion used to guide learning in 6th
- A blend of Year 1 and Year 3 Objectives and Assessment Criterion used to guide learning in 7th During First Semester, teachers will use Year 1 Rubrics and move to Year 3 in Second Semester.
- Year 3 Objectives and Assessment Criterion are used to guide learning in 8th
Teachers of our Advanced IB-MYP students will grade all summative assessments using the IB-MYP Subject Group rubrics. Before the student’s summative assessments are graded, teachers will meet to determine what each Achievement Level looks like for the assessment. Teachers will then use the IB Criterion rubrics to determine whether the first descriptor describes the performance of the summative assessment. If the student work exceeds the expectations of that level descriptor, the teacher will then determine if the performance is described in the second level descriptor. The teacher will continue this until the summative assessment does not fall under a specific level descriptor.
