turnitin: Reviewing Similarity Scores
To view your students' Similarity Scores, please follow the instructions below. For more information about the Similarity Score, watch the video below the instructions.
*Please note that the similarity score is not an accusation of plagiarism, it is a comparison the student's writing to turnitin's global student database, periodicals, etc.*
Accessing the Similarity Report
1. Open SpeedGrader for the assignment you are comparing with turnitin. On the right hand side where you will add comments and grade the assignment, you will see a percentage next to the file submission. This is the overall similarity score for this student's submission. Click on the percentage to open the Feedback Studio from turnitin.
2. When you are in the studio, you will see your students' file upload along with their Similarity Score and match report. Click on the number to view the full match report.
3. From here you can review your student's work and then move on to the next student's work. Once you open the turnitin Feedback Studio, you do not need to reopen it for each student submission. Simply click the arrows to navigate between work submissions.
4. You will still be using SpeedGrader for grading on Canvas. Once you have reviewed the Similarity Report and are ready to enter grades, you will return to Canvas SpeedGrader to do so.
Accessing AI Detection Report:
To access the AI Detection Report, you will click on the AI Score at the bottom of your choices in the turnitin Feedback Studio. This will open a new tab and give you the AI detection report.
Students will be able to see their OVERALL Similarity Score a few minutes after submitting their assignment. They will not be able to see the match break down or the AI detection report.
