DART - Student Already Has a Device Checked Out
If you have entered the student's Name or ID number in Assign Student Device and they have a device checked out, you will see this screen:
This means the student has a device checked out from last year or from summer school.
- Tell the student "You already have a Chromebook checked out. Do you still have it at home?"
- If the student says YES, then say "Bring it back tomorrow and we will return it and check it back out to you."
- When that student returns the next day, check the device in using One Click Return instructions.
- Then check the same device out to them using the Assigning Student Device instructions.
- Ensure they have a label on both their Chromebook and Charger and they have a case . See Chromebook Labeling Procedures.
- If the student say NO:
- Click OK to get out of the screen
- Explain to the student "You are going to be charged $400 for this Chromebook. Are you sure you don't have it at home?"
- If they still want to to look, refer back to #2 above.
- If the student says they are OK with being charged the $400 for the Chromebook:
- Go to SDIRC-2
- Click One Click Lost / Stolen
- Type in the serial number of the lost Chromebook.
- Click Submit.
- Click Lost
- Click Submit. This will mark the device lost and charge the $400 to the Fees in DART.
One the old device is marked lost, you may assign the student a new device using Assigning Student Device procedure.
If you would to give the student a paper to bring to parents, you may use the:
